It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s a Thanksgiving turkey cake!

So, Thanksgiving is a week and a day away. Are you stressing out about the dinner prep? Not sure you’ll remember to thaw the bird in time? Worried that you don’t have enough counter space and that all of the side dishes may not fit in your oven and/or be ready to eat at the same time?

Well, thanks to a helpful email I received last week from my baby brother, I have the answer to all of your Thanksgiving preparation problems: an entire holiday meal in just one slice.

Yep, it’s a layer cake, complete with all of the ingredients of a traditional American Thanksgiving feast: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and sweet potato casserole.

OK, so you might want to serve it with a green salad or green bean casserole to round out the meal, and a pumpkin or minced meat pie for (actual) dessert. But imagine the time and space you’ll save! You can prepare the entire meal plus those additions in a single normal-sized oven, and ahead of time. And an additional bonus? No fighting over the wish bone.

Click here for a complete ingredient list and step-by-step illustrated instructions for creating this culinary masterpiece. And let me know if you plan to employ this time-and-space-saving strategy to your festivities this year. Or not. 🙂

Oh, don’t you just hate all the dirty dishes everywhere! Now, I buy just the turkey breasts and thighs for the dark meat lovers. Easy clean up without the mess. I make my own stuffing separate from the bird. And, I have lots of counter space. Now, all the dirty glassware, china, silverware, serving dishes…..

I wonder how culinary masterpiece tastes? Are you going to try it?

No plans to try it anytime soon, but I do find the concept amusing! At first, it kind of grossed me out–probably because when I see a cake, I think chocolate, not turkey. I won’t be doing the cooking this year, so I’ll go for the more traditional fare.
